MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 24, 1992
this in the General Fund, and the matter amounts to a
fund transfer to clear up this issue. The
Administrator reported that the situation is well in
hand today.
SOFTBALL & The City Administrator reviewed the Park & Recreation
BASEBALL Director's recommendation for the hiring of baseball
oFFICIALS and softball officials. Previously these officials
were hired by the LCRA, however, since the LCRA no
longer gets revenue from the program, the City has
become responsible for hiring these officials.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 92-6-214 - APPROVING THE HIRING OF
BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL OFFICIALS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR AS OUTLINED IN HIS MEMO
DATED JUNE 23, 1992
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by 5calze.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Collova.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
HEPATITIS B Hanson reported that prior to the meeting, the Council
met in a workshop with representatives of the Fire
Department. The Fire Department is requesting funding
for Hepatitis B vaccinations as well as AIDS testing
for all members of the Department. Consensus of the
Council at that workshop was to underwrite this cost,
which amounts to approximately $5,600. Hanson reported
that the Fire Department has requested that Dr. Allen
in Little Canada provide the vaccinations and testing,
and Hanson suggested that Dr. Allen bill the City for
this service. It was noted that fire fighters will
attempt to qet the cost covered by their own health
insurance plans, but it that is not possible, the City
will pay the cost.
The City Administrator pointed out that the offering of
Hepatitis B vaccinations is an OSHA requirement. The
fire fighter can refuse the vaccination, but must then
sign a waiver.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-6-215 - APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF
UP TO $5,600 FOR HEPATITIS B VACCINATIONS AND AIDS
TESTING FOR LITTLE CANADA FIRE FIGHTERS
Page 12
