MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13, 1992
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-10-345 - ORDERING IMPROVEMENT AND
PREPARATION OF PLANS FOR VANDERBIE STREET LYING BETWEEN
THE NORTH LINE OF LABORE ROAD AND TAE SOUTH LINE OF
ALLEN AVENUE, AND ALLEN AVENUE LYING BETWEEN THE EAST
LINE OF DESOTO STREET AND THE WEST LINE OF EDGERTON BY
STORM SEWER, WATER MAIN, CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER AND
STREET RECONSTRUCTION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Aanson, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (o).
Resolution declared adopted.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 7:50 P.M., Council took a
short recess since the next public hearing is scheduled
for 8:30 P.M. Meeting was reconvened at 8:30 P.M.
IMPROVEMENT The Mayor opened the public hearing to consider the
HEARING improvement of Edgerton Street from the north line of
EDGERTON Little Canada Road to County Road D, County Road D from
WATER MAIN the east line of Edgerton Street to the west line of
IMPROVEMENT Payne Avenue, and Keller Parkway north from Little
Canada Road approximately 500 feet by water main
improvement. The Mayor pointed out that in this
instance a portion of the improvement for the area
lying along Edgerton from Little Canada Road to LaBore
Road was petitioned for. The remaining portion of the
Edgerton Street improvement from Little Canada Road to
County Road D was initiated by Council action.
The City Engineer reported that the extension of water
main north to County Road D was petitioned for about 10
to 12 years ago by property owners. A hearing was held
at that time, and the improvement denied since the
majority of property owners involved were opposed. The
Engineer pointed out that the extension of this water
main would provide a vital second loop of the City's
system to the northeast section of the City.
The City Engineer explained the project proposed as
well as cost. Total estimated cost of the project is
$485,127. The Engineer reported that applying City
policy, the City's portion of this cost would be
$172,424, leaving $312,703 to be assessed against
benefitting properties. The water main assessment
would be based on a 6" lateral water main improvement
along Edgerton from LaBore Road to County Road D. The
resulting estimated project cost is $3,813.45 per lot.
Page 8
