MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 18, 1992
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Collova, Blesener.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Soalze asked if the City Center was free to any
non-City group who wanted to use it.
Hanson pointed out that there are two non-City groups
using the facility now, the TOPS group and the
Snowmobile Club. Hanson felt these groups could
continue to use the building at no charge until such
time as a policy change is adopted. Hanson indicated
that there will be further study of the issue, and felt
that the City needed to be restrictive on the type of
activity that is allowed to go on at the City Center.
CREDIT Blesener reviewed the report of the Public Works
UNION Superintendent regarding the over-night parking
PARKING that is occurring in the City parking lot adjacent to
St. John's Credit Union. This parking is interfering
with snowplowing, and it was the recommendation of the
Superintendent that over-night parking be banned.
Collova asked if the Sheriff's Department would then
ticket and tow vehicles parked over-night.
LaValle replied that this would depend on the
instructions given by Public Works.
Aanson thought the action might help eliminate the used
car sales activities in this parking lot.
A member of the audience was concerned about someone
leaving their car in the lot who had too much to drink
and taking a cab home. That individual was concerned
that someone who acted responsibly would end up getting
their car ticketed and/or towed.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RE50LUTION NO. 92-11-420 - INSTRUCTING THE PUBLIC WORKS
SUPERINTENDENT AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO RESTRICT
PARKING IN THE CITY PARKING LOT ADJACENT TO ST. JOHN'S
CREDIT UNION IN A MANNER WHICH ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Collova, Hanson, LaValle.
Nays (0).
