MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 25, 1992
The City Administrator reported that the City has funds
on hand through a couple different accounts to finance
the purchase, or suggested that a lease/purchase
arrangement may be used. The Administrator suggested
that once bids are received and a cost identified, he
would come back to the Council with a financing
program. The Administrator also pointed out that once
the cost is known, staff will further analyze the
situation and make a recommendation on whether or not
to purchase a loader. The Administrator agreed that a
loader was a very versatile piece of equipment, and
suggested that it may save the City future snowplowing
equipment expenditures as well as enhancing service to
our residents.
Bob Rudy pointed out any equipment purchase must yield
some type o£ return, and asked how many hours Public
Works estimated that a loader would be used each year.
The Superintendent estimated that
used at least 1,000 hours per yea
also estimated a$60,000 cost for
that he would bid.
Rudy felt the type of loader that
was talking about was quite small
limited to the type and amount of
a loader would be
. The Administrator felt that Public Works
would be able to use a loader virtually every day
because of its versatility.
The City Administrator also estimated that a loader had
a 20-year life, therefore, this would be a long-term
piece of equipment for the City.
Blesener noted that the snow plow the City purchased
was used, and there has been discussion about the
purchase of a second plow. A loader would probably
eliminate the need for that purchase. Blesener asked
if staff had considered the purchase of a demo.
The City Administrator replied that demos would be
considered.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
Page 10
