MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 10, 1993
RESOLUTION NO. 93-2-36 - ORDERING THE IMPROVEMENT OF
LAKE STREET FROM JACKSON STREET TO LAKESHORE AVENUE BY
STREET RECONSTRUCTION, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO PREPARE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (1) Pedersen.
Nays (4) Morelan, Scalze, Hanson, LaValle.
Resolution denied.
The City Administrator reported that he would verify
the adequacy of the petition submitted for the overlay
of Lake Street. Should the Council choose to call an
improvement hearing for the overlay, the property
owners would be sent hearing notices.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:10 P.M., the Council
took a short recess. The meeting was reoonvened at
9:22 P.M.
VIKING The City Engineer reviewed the Viking Drive watermain
DRIVE improvement feasibility report. The Engineer noted
WATERMAIN that the report contains two options, one for
FEASIBILITY extending watermain to reach the residents, and another
REPORT which includes looping the watermain back into the
system. The looping option increases the cost of the
project by approximately 50%. The Enqineer pointed out
that the estimated cost of the project is over $10,000
per lot without the looping option.
Scalze pointed out that there is a large parcel in the
area, and asked if consideration had been given to
including that parcel in the project.
The City Engineer replied that he had not included that
lot in the project being unsure whether it was
splitable.
Scalze suggested that this be researched, and suggested
that it might be possible to get two or three lots out
of that parcel. This could reduce the cost of the
project down to a point where it would be feasible to
loop the system.
Hanson asked if there would be street restoration as
part of the project.
The Engineer replied that there would not since the
watermain would be located approximately 40 feet off
the roadway adjacent to the existing sewer line.
Easements would be required as part of the project.
Page 11
