Little Canada, MinnesotaCity Administrator Recruitment Profile About the City of Little Canada <br />Little Canada is conveniently located near the St. Paul and Minneapolis downtowns on I35E and I694. Little Canada has maintained the best of what a small-town feel means while being in the heart of the Metro area. A variety of great parks, trails, schools, and new and established neighborhoods provide residents with a high quality of life. With a population of 10,819 (2020 Census), Little Canada’s demographics continue to grow in diversity, with over 13.6% identifying as Asian alone/non-Latinx, over 11.9% identifying as Hispanic or Latinx, and over 8.4% identifying as Black alone/non-Latinx. The City partners with several civic clubs and organizations to help coordinate community projects and special events. Organizations include, but are not limited to, the Little Canada Recreation Association, the Little Canada Canadian Days Committee, and area scouting groups. Little Canada is proud of our business community, which includes several commercial corridors and a well-developed industrial area. Residential development is expected to remain strong, with several projects underway, including infill, single-family subdivisions, and multi-family apartment projects. <br />Approximately 400 new housing units are planned or under construction in 2025, including: <br />• Three smaller single-family subdivision developments have been approved over the last three years and are actively under construction or recently completed. <br />• A subdivision by Lennar Corporation consisting of 178 units of row and back-to-back townhomes is in the process of being constructed. <br />• A 160-unit apartment with Reuter-Walton, a project targeted at 60% AMI located at the intersection of Demont and Rice Street, which broke ground at the end of 2024. <br />• A 106-unit multi-family senior apartment project on County Road B East is proposed by Lupe Development Partners. The project is targeted for seniors 55+ and will feature a majority of studio to two-bedroom layouts.
