Elected Officials
The City Council is led by the longest-tenured member, Mayor Tom Fisher. The council members range in experience from 3 years to two months, with several council members having previously served on various City Commissions. Council members have a variety of backgrounds, including a passion for volunteering, management experience, and a shared vision to serve the community.
The Mayor and Council are professional and collegial with each other, acting in the best interests of the City. At their recent Strategic Planning retreat (February 28/March 1) with commission members, key staff, and youth commissioners, the Mayor and Council invited and encouraged all participants to be equal participants in building the 2030 vision and work plan.
Little Canada, Minnesota City Administrator Recruitment
Most of the leadership team at City Hall are new to Little Canada. They bring a dynamic, spirited enthusiasm toward work and the mission. The new and long-standing employees have a deep sense of trust in each other and easily engage in spirited debates when making decisions. The organization is consensus-driven on most issues, with input and challenging ideas welcomed. The high-energy, high-output team is fueled with competency and balance. When the push is on, there is a high degree of shared accountability to get things done by working late and being available before and beyond normal hours. Once objectives are met, individuals recharge as needed. The staff size makes for busy schedules. However, the camaraderie and teamwork involved keeps everyone energized. The entire organization prides itself on ‘doing what is right for the community.’ There are no barriers to communication between the Mayor and Council and the Department Directors. The organization’s size makes it easy for conversations to take place at the sources of information without the Administrator needing to be involved.
Organizational Culture
Organizational Chart
