MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 3, 1993
the cost of bringing the building up to Code, should
the City keep the building for the purposes that it is
being used for.
Morelan asked if the committee was going to look at
whether or not to keep the building.
Scalze indicated that she felt the City should keep the
building and should improve it. Scalze pointed out in
retaining the building, the City would be providing a
community center and a place for small gatherings.
Boss did not feel that a committee was needed to decide
these issues, feeling that they could be decided by the
City Council and Fire Department. Boss asked that the City
Administrator study how other communities address City
workers involved in fire service. Boss pointed out
that Ramsey County and NSP encourage there workers to
become involved, and that several major companies do as
well.
LaValle replied that the issue arose because of the
possibility of a City department head who might be fire
Paqe 8
