However, funding of items will oome <br />down to ranking and priorities. <br />The Administrator felt that the City needed a financial <br />planning workshop to address issues of capital <br />improvements, street reconstruction, Fire Department <br />equipment, etc. <br />Hanson pointed out that most of the City's industrial <br />property is developed, and that the City is nearly <br />fully developed. Therefore, the City's tax base will <br />not increase significantly unless there is some <br />redevelopment. Based on this, Hanson felt it was <br />important that the City go slow on, pointing out that <br />not everyone will get all that they want. Aanson <br />pointed out that the Council is currently looking at <br />the street assessment policy, and it is anticipated <br />that it will take more City dollars to fund street <br />reconstruction projects. <br />Scalze asked if efforts will be made to coordinate the <br />Watershed's project in Gervais Mill Park with the <br />City~s planned development of trails and additional <br />plantings. <br />Wehrle indicated that he did not believe it was <br />critical to coordinate the City's efforts due to the <br />type of project that the Watershed has planned. <br />However, suggested that he discuss this with the Park <br />Consultant. <br />The Administrator reported that he would contact the <br />Watershed to determine their project schedule. <br />Wehrle anticipated that the City will get questions on <br />the Gervais Mill project, and suggested that a plan be <br />available at City Hall for residents to review. <br />Hanson pointed out that there are a lot of trees that <br />may be coming down along Edgerton as part of the <br />project. <br />Wehrle agreed that the area will look quite different <br />as a result of the project. <br />Morelan stated that he would like the Commission to <br />look at the participation rate in youth athletics, <br />feeling that since the registration fee was increased <br />there was a significant drop in all sports. Morelan <br />asked the Commission to determine if there are ways to <br />lower the registration cost in order to get more kids <br />involved in the program. Morelan felt that having <br />youth involved as they are growing up produced better <br />Page 5 <br />
