MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 14, 1993
The City Attorney did not know that the
had that authority.
The City Administrator reported that Bob
was in today and expressed concern about
rotation schedule is handled and did not
specific night allocated to a particular
~ity Council
Matson of NSYA
how the
want to see a
charity.
Blomberg felt this was necessary given the limitation
of 7 occasions per week.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
THE LANDLORD AND CHARITY
RESOLUTION N0. 93-4-85 - GRANTING ST. JOSEPH~S SOCIETY
FOR CHARITY AN ADDITIONAL NIGHT OF BINGO AT THE LITTLE
CANADA BINGO AALL ON A MONTH-TO-MONTH BASIS WITH THE
DESIGNATION OF THE PARTICULAR DAY TO BE LEFT BETWEEN
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen.
Nays (1) LaValle. Resolution declared adopted.
Scalze indicated that the Council needs to have a
workshop to discuss the issue of rents, among others.
Scalze indicated that it was her feeling that she was
not interested in having bingo in the City if it was
not local charities that are involved.
Morelan asked about the gambling committee that was
going to meet again.
Scalze reported that that committee was comprised of
herself, LaValle, City Administrator, Administrative
Assistant and City Attorney. Scalze felt that either
the committee could meet and report back to the
Council, or the Council could hold a workshop. Scalze
felt the Council should just qet on with the issue and
hold a workshop. Scalze felt that representatives of
the charities, as well as the bingo hall owner and the
owner of the Market Place Shopping Center should be
invited to that meeting.
The City Administrator reported that there were two
inquiries today about the Council's willingness to
approve premise permits for charities located outside
the City.
LaValle pointed out that, as drafted, the City's
ordinance does not allow for this, and indicated that
he was not willing to amend the ordinance. Scalze
agreed.
Page 14
