MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 28, 1993
There was no one else from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by LaValle, seconded by Scalze, the public
hearing was closed.
LaValle felt that based on the survey results, the
water main improvement should be denied.
Scalze pointed out that the unwatered areas of the City
would all be difficult projects, and suggested that the
City need to look at these areas at one time.
The City Administrator suggested that these areas be
identified, cost estimates put together, and the
Council decide on the level of City participation it
would be willing to support. The Administrator doubted
that it would be possible to get 100% participation or
agreement in support of these types of projects in any
of these areas.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-4-101 - DENYING THE VIKING DRIVE
WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENT AS PETITIONED FOR BY THE
RESIDENTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Scalze, Hanson.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
PROPERTY Hanson opened the public hearing to consider the
DIVISION & application submitted by John Gerten for property
REZONING division, recombination of property and rezoning from
303 EAST R-1 to B-3 for property located at 303 East Little
LITTLE Canada Road.
CANADA ROAD
Gerten reported that he is proposing to relocate his
law office to 303 East Little Canada Road, which has
existed on Payne Avenue in St. Paul for the past 27
years. Gerten reported that he would like to purchase
the property and remodel the interior of the existing
single-family home to suit his business. Gerten
pointed out that the location of the house is not
suited for residential use since there is high traffic
volume on three sides. Gerten felt his law office
would fit within the neighborhood since there would be
a low volume of traffic to and from the site. Gerten
anticipated 30 to 40 vehicles to the office each day
and pointed out that business hours are generally
Monday through Friday from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. Gerten
felt his law office would be very compatible with the
residential properties to the north.
Page 8
