STAFF
REPORT
TO:Mayor Fischer and Members of City Council
FROM:Heidi Heller, City Clerk/HR Manager
DATE:April 9, 2025
RE:Authorization to Hire 2025 Seasonal Employees
ACTION TO BE CONSIDERED:
Consider approval to hire temporary seasonal recreation and public works maintenance
employees in 2025.
BACKGROUND:
Historically the Parks and Public Works Departments have hired seasonal employees to assist
full time employees with maintaining expected service levels in parks and building maintenance
activities during the peak workload summer season and during the winter season to flood the ice
rinks and staff the warming houses. This year recreational seasonals and building aides are also
added to assist with recreational programs and the required staffing of facilities during activities
throughout the year.
Parks and Public Works budget every year for hiring a specific number of seasonal employees.
The wages for seasonal employees in 2025 are $16.50 – $20.50 per hour.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Council approve hiring of up to 3 seasonal recreation employees, 7
summer parks/public works maintenance employees, and 7 winter rink maintenance/attendants
for 2025.
