MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 12, 1993
Short also reported that in most cases rent for the
organizations at the bingo hall has come down, and the
Little Canada Bingo Hall is still getting more people
through the door than any other bingo hall.
Scalze felt it was tough to do business at the
approximately $360 per session rent being charged at
Little Canada Bingo Hall.
Short suggested that the Council tell him what a proper
rent would be and suggested that he would be glad to
adjust the rent.
Matson stated that he would like to see the rent at the
bingo hall remain all inclusive. Matson reported that
the $200 at the Knights of Columbus Hall is all
inclusive.
Boss reported that negotiations with TCF were left with
a rent approximately $200 to $225 per session, in
addition to the organizations being able to sublease
the concession area and gain some revenue from that.
This brought the rent down to approximately $180 per
session.
Short stated that he could not agree with those
figures, but then asked the Council what he should be
charging for rent.
Scalze stated that she did not want to micro-manage Mr.
Short's business, but wanted to issue a bingo hall
license and make it work.
Short suggested that in looking at rent level
information, the Council be sure it is comparing apples
to apples.
Matson pointed out that the rent levels discussed with
TCF would be an apples to apples comparison, and
suggested that the Council needs to review this
information.
Scalze suggested that the Council needed to see a
rental package from both the Little Canada Bingo Hall
owners and TCF.
Boss reported that in negotiating the rental agreement
with TCF, the rental rate arrived at is an apples to
apples comparison with the rate being charged at the
Little Canada Bingo Hall.
Matson stated that he would like to compare the TCF
rental agreement with that at Little Canada Bingo Hall.
Page 6
