MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 23, 1993 <br />GAMBLING The City Administrator reported that due to recent <br />ENFORCEMENT discussions and comments made in a recent newspaper <br />TAX article about pending litigation, it is the <br />recommendation of City staff that the 2% gambling <br />enforcement tax being levied by the City be increased <br />to 3%. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-6-196 - INCREASING TI-IE CITY'S <br />GAMBLING ENFORCEMENT TAX FROM 2% TO 3% EFFECTIVE JULY <br />1, 1993 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />CALL FOR The City Administrator reported that he has been <br />LITTLE discussing with Mr. Swanson his participation in the <br />CANADA RD. cost of a storm sewer improvement on Little Canada <br />IMPROVEMENT Road. The City Enqineer is putting together cost <br />HEARING estimates for the project, and based on those estimats, <br />the City Administrator indicated that he would attempt <br />to negotiate Mr. Swanson's participation in the <br />project. The Administrator recommended, however, that <br />the City begin the improvement hearing process for this <br />project in the event that negotiations are not <br />successful. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-6-197 - RECEIVING REPORT AND CALLING <br />FOR AN IMPROVEMENT HEARING FOR LITTLE CANADA ROAD STORM <br />SEWER PROJECT FOR WEDNESDAY, SULY 14, 1993 AT 7:30 P.M. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen, Morelan. <br />Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted. <br />1994 The City Administrator reviewed his report dated <br />SHERIFF'S June 17, 1993 regarding a proposed increase in the <br />BUDGET/ 1994 Sheriff's Budget of 4 1/2% as well as Commander <br />PATROL Bergeron's report dated June 16th regarding the use <br />ASSIGNMENTS of flexibility in personnel scheduling in an attempt to <br />keep the 1994 increase at a minimum. The Administrator <br />reported that he appreciated Commander Bergeron's <br />efforts to work with the contracting cities to keep <br />increases down.
