MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 8, 1993 <br />the volunteer fire service due to the fact that in most <br />families today, both parents are working, day care <br />considerations then enter the picture. Also, there is <br />much more in terms of schooling requirements of <br />volunteer fire fighters. <br />Fahey also commented that the relationship that the <br />Fire Department has with the City is very important in <br />attracting volunteers to the fire service. <br />CANADIAN Steve Morelan reported that he had many comments at <br />DAYS - Canadian Days on the lack of fireworks, and asked the <br />FIRE WORRS Fire Department for their position on £ireworks at the <br />celebration. <br />The Chief replied that the Fire Department had no <br />problem with fireworks at Canadian Days, and felt that <br />it becomes a matter of City enforcement to ensure that <br />adequate safety measures are taken. The Chief <br />indicated that the Fire Department would be happy to <br />work with Canadian Days on this issue. <br />LaValle pointed out that the former Fire Chief took a <br />different position on the issue of fireworks. <br />There being no further business, the workshop was <br />adjourned at 7:35 P.M. <br />Mayor <br />Attest: a4.r,~, ~~.~ -~ ~..t_.c..._... <br />oel, .
