MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 22, 1993
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Pedersen, Hanson, Scalze.
Nays (1) Morelan. Resolution declared adopted.
PARRING Mr. Don Rue appeared before the Council requesting
ON CITY authorization for temporary parking by Trane Company
PARK on City park property. Rue described the area involved
PROPERTY and reported that Trane Company has developed a
bocceball court and would develop a volleyball court on
the property. This development would occur to the
south, while the temporary parking would be on the
north. Rue felt the temporary parking situation would
resolve a problem for Trane Company and help to keep
the company in this present facility.
Scalze expressed concern about setting a precedent by
letting private industry use City property for parking.
Scalze was also concerned about this company
undertaking the development of the City's park
property.
Rue replied that Trane Company's insurance carrier will
underwrite the City's liability concerns, and again
commented on the temporary parking helping to keep the
company in Little Canada.
Scalze indicated that she was not interested in the
proposal again expressing concern about the precedent
that would be set.
Rue reported that the Parks & Recreation Commission
looked at the proposal, which he has adjusted somewhat
since that meeting, due to the Commission's concern
with the visibility of the parking from Maple Lane.
The Council noted that they had just received the
minutes from the Park & Recreation Commission meeting,
and had not had a chance to review these minutes.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO 93-9-297 - TABLING ACTION ON THE DON RUE
PROPOSAL FOR TEMPORARY PARKING ON CITY PARK PROPERTY
UNTIL THE OCTOBER 13, 1993 COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Page 12
