MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 22, 1993
The Administrator reported that it was a temporary,
part-time position.
Morelan indicated that he would like to get the fire
inspection program going, and indicated that to
accomplish the goal of completing inspections of all
businesses by the end of 1994, it will take more than
one inspector. However, another inspector can be added
later to accomplish that goal sooner.
LaValle asked if a fire inspector is hired, if that
responsibility would be taken from the Building
Official. LaValle pointed out that the Building
Official is being paid to do fire inspecting.
Hanson replied that the fire inspector would be working
with the Building Official on fire inspections rather
than instead of.
Scalze asked if the Building Official was doing any
fire inspecting.
The City Administrator reported that in discussing
comments made at the last meeting with the Building
Official, he has reported that he is doing some fire
inspecting, although the Administrator had not seen the
documentation. The Administrator reported that when
the fire inspection program was first discussed, it was
his impression that the fire inspectors would be doing
inspections in addition to those done by the Building
Official. However, at the budget workshop, Council
Member LaValle indicated another approach. The
Administrator reported that he saw the Building
Official as setting up and overseeing the program.
LaValle suggested that the matter be tabled for two
weeks. LaValle stated that based on the experience of
the applicants, these individuals may be capable of
setting up the program and running it on a part-time
basis.
Morelan pointed out that the Building Official has done
the fire inspections for the large multiple-family
dwelling units in the City and has responded to
inquiries from the Fire Department on a request basis.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 93-9-308 - HIRING DAVE FRISON AS
TEMPORARY PART-TIME FIRE INSPECTOR FOR THE CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA AS RECOMMENDED BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL
AT A SALARY OF $10.50 PER AOUR
Page 26
