MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13, 1993
Morelan suggested that the City and Mr. Scully divide
the cost of getting the road dedication completed. Mr.
Scully indicated that he was not agreeable to sharing
in this cost.
It was the consensus of the Council to table action on
this matter until the next Council meeting. At that
time the City will know whether a road easement
description exists, or whether a description will need
to be created.
FIRE LaValle reported that he has reviewed the report of the
INSPECTION Fire Marshal with regard to the fire inspection
PROGRAM program, and it appears that a large paper workload is
being created. LaValle questioned the checklists
submitted by the Fire Marshal, and felt that there must
be more concise examples available. LaValle suggested
that other cities be contacted to determine what they
use.
LaValle also indicated that he did not understand the
Fire Marshal's comments regarding the 168 inspection
that have been done in 1993.
The City Administrator reported that some revisions are
needed in the fire inspection forms, and he and the
Fire Marshal and Fire Chief will be meeting to go over
the forms to improve them. With regard to the 168
inspections, the Fire Marshal has indicated that he has
been in virtually every commercial property in the City
over the past year, however, has not done a detailed
fire inspection of each property. In the past fire
inspections have not been as comprehensive nor as well
documented as the inspections will be under the new
program.
LaValle stated that he would like to see a list of the
168 businesses that were inspected. That list should
include information on what was inspected and the date
of time of the inspection.
Pedersen pointed out the Fire Marshal's comments that
in the past fire inspections were not thorough.
LaValle asked if the 168 inspections included new
residential buildings or additions to existing homes.
Scalze asked if there have been no documented fire
inspections in the past year.
LaValle pointed out the comment that fire inspections
have occurred in the past, but have been only
occasionally documented through correspondence.
Page 22
