MINiI'PES OF THE WORRSHOP MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA,
NOVEPIBER 15, 1993
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop
meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada,
Minnesota was held on the 15th day of November, 1993 in
the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515
Little Canada Road in said City.
Mayor Raymond Hanson chaired and called the meeting to
order at 7:00 P.M. and the following members of the
Council were present at roll call:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Raymond Hanson
Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle
Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan
Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen
Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze
ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson
Bldg. Official Mr. John Palacio
Public Works Mr. Dave Harris
Fire Chief Mr. Dick Boss
Fire Dept. Mr. Dan Peterson
Fire Dept. Mr. Jim Gustafson
Cable TV Coor. Mr. Bill Bruce
Rec. Secretary Mrs. Kathy Glanzer
1994 The City Administrator reviewed the City's taxable
BUDGET valuations, levies and rates, pointing out that the
City's estimated tax capacity for 1994 will drop less
than 1% from the 1993 rate. The reasons for this drop
include the fact that the State changed the class rate
percentages, dropping the tax burden on higher-valued
homes and commercial/industrial properties. Another
potential reason is actions contesting valuations of
specific properties. Using the City's tax capacity
rates and the numbers in the proposed 1994 budget, the
City's total tax capacity rate would increase by 5.68%
from the 1993 rate.
The Administrator reported that the proposed budget
would result in a gross levy increase of 3.96% and a
net levy increase of 4.95%. The Truth in Taxation
notices which went out to the City's property owners
indicate a 5.23% increase. The Administrator noted
that increases in property valuations will also effect
the increase to individual properties.
Page 1
