MINUTES CITY COUNCIL DECEMBER 8, 1993 Shoreview could use the extra manpower and share in that cost. LaValle asked if the traffic car was necessary. Bergeron reported that the Department receives numerous traffio complaints, and felt the Department needed the resources to address those complaints. Chris Cardinal, Lakeside Court, expressed concern about traffic speeds on Keller Parkway. Cardinal felt when the road is upgraded those problems would increase. Bergeron reported that the traffic car has patrolled the Keller Parkway area and has issued tags. The traffic car has found that the average speed on Keller Parkway is just under the speed limit, however, there are definitely some speeders in that area. Bergeron reported that the traffic car has other areas it must patrol as well. Bergeron felt that drivers need to realize that they are causing a problem. Cardinal felt that a stop sign at Keller Parkway and Lakeside Court would slow traffic down, although he has been told that it will not. Cardinal reported that he has been informed by the County that the City must request such a stop sign. Scalze pointed out the difficulty the City has had in the past in getting stop signs installed at intersections, and questioned how Maplewood got the stop sign at the intersection of County Road C and Cypress Street. Scalze reported that it took a private citizen contacting a County Commissioner during an election year to get the 4-way stop at Edgerton Street and LaBore Road. Scalze suggested that Cardinal get together with his neighbors and contact a County Commissioner for a stop sign at Keller Parkway and Lakeside Court. Morelan pointed out that there are numerous areas in the City that have traffic problems. The Council thanked Commander Bergeron for his presentation, agreed to meet again with the Sheriff's Department in a few months.
