MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 16, 1993
residents realize that the business is proposinq to
locate in Vadnais Heights, but asked for whatever help
the City can give on this matter.
Hanson stated that the Council can understand the
residents' concerns.
Pedersen pointed out the cooperative stance that the
City is taking with Vadnais Heights on the development
of the Mitchell property. Pedersen stated that this is
another border issue and hoped that there would be some
sort of cooperation on this matter as well.
Aanson pointed out that Vadnais Heights does have a
strip of commercial development along County Road D,
and Little Canada is left with the traffic that this
area generates.
Lipari pointed out that she has 20 signatures on the
petition and could have obtained more. Lipari pointed
out that the area is a wonderful suburban area, and
that is why the residents live there. Lipari stated
that residents understand that the commercial area in
Vadnais Heights exists, but were concerned about the
type of people that a tatoo parlor would draw. Lipari
reported that she has not raised the issue with the
Vadnais Aeights City Council, and is asking for help
from Little Canada.
Scalze indicated that the City has no legal right to do
anything in this matter, pointing out that even though
the City has no control, the area does impact Little
Canada residents. Scalze suggested that a copy of the
petition be submitted to the City of Vadnais Heights
along with the comments made about the impact on Little
Canada's residential neighborhood. Scalze suggested
that Vadnais Heights should be asked for some
consideration due to the impact on the residential
neighborhood.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 93-12-295 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO SEND A LETTER TO THE CITY OF VADNAIS
HEIGHTS ALONG WITH THE PETITION SUBMITTED, EXPLAINING
THE CONCERNS OF THE RESIDENTIAL NEIGABORHOOD ACROSS THE
STREET, ASKING THAT VADNAIS HEIGHTS ADDRESS THESE
CONCERNS AND COMMUNICATE THEIR ACTIONS BACK TO THE CITY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Morelan, Pedersen, Hanson.
Nays (O).
