MINUTES CITY COUNCIL DECEMBER 16, 1993 The City Planner stated that Vadnais Aeights will have to adopt an ordinance by next August. It is possible not to adopt a shoreland ordinance, however, in that case other requirements and an environmental assessment worksheet will have to be done instead. Morelan asked if a public hearing was necessary before the revised Shoreland Ordinance can be adopted. The City Planner replied that that was correct since the Shoreland Ordinance is a part of the Zoning Code. Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 93-12-294 - CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR JANUARY 26, 1993 AT 7:30 P.M. TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A REVISED SHORELAND ORDINANCE The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Hanson, Scalze, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. SIGN The City Planner reviewed his report dated November 9, ORDYNANCE 1993 summarizing the main points contained in the City's Sign Ordinance, and comparing Little Canada requirements with those of the surrounding cities. Scalze pointed out the Planning Commission's recommendation that the City's Sign Ordinance remain as is. Morelan asked if the City's Sign Ordinance was comparable with those of the surrounding cities. The Planner replied that he believed the Ordinance was right in the middle of the requirements of the surrounding cities. It was the consensus of the Council to leave the Sign Ordinance as is. TATOO Franka Lipari, 790 East County Road D, submitted a PARI.AR petition signed by property owners in the area opposing the location of a tatoo parlor on County Road D in Vadnais Heights. Lipari reported that the residents do not feel such a business is appropriate in this area. Lipari pointed out the other problems residents on County Road D are subjected to such as heavy traffic, the commercial area across the street in Vadnais Heights, and high taxes.
