MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECEMBER 16, 1993 <br />EXII~P'PION Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />FROM moved its adoption: <br />LAWFUL <br />GAMBLING RESOLUTION NO. 93-12-302 - APPROVING THE APPLICATIONS <br />PERMITS FOR EXEMPTIONS FROM LAWFUL GAMBLING PERMITS FOR ST. <br />ST. JOHN'S JOHN'S CHURCH FOR GOLD PLATE DINNER AT THE VENETIAN <br />CFIURCH INN ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 1994, AND FOR FUND-RAISER <br />IN THE SCHOOL GYM ON SUNDAY~ FEBRUARY 13, 1994 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LEAVE OF Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />ABSENCE moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-12-303 - APPROVING THE LEAVE OF <br />ABSENCE FOR BEVERLY JESPERSEN A5 REQUESTED <br />The foreqoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />RICE STR. The City Administrator reported that he will be meeting <br />REDEVELOP- with Mr. Collyard and Mr. Vitale regarding preliminary <br />ME~i`P guidelines for a development agreement addressing <br />redevelopment of the Rice Street area. The <br />Administrator felt it will take some time to spell out <br />the details of such a project, and he will keep the <br />Council updated on this matter. <br />ALTERNATI~7E Pedersen suggested that the City contact <br />LFARNING representatives of the Alternative Learning Center to <br />CENTER see what the Center can do to better police themselves <br />and reduce the number of calls to the Ramsey County <br />Sheriff's Department. <br />The Administrator reported that in similar situations, <br />the City has requested officials of a business meet <br />with City staff and a representative of the Sheriff's <br />Department to discuss options for handling calls. <br />The City Attorney suggested that he research the <br />options available to the City in this instance and <br />report back to the Council. <br />Morelan felt that the workshop the Council had with the <br />Sheriff's Department was very enlightening, and <br />suggested that another workshop be held in the near <br />Page 21 <br />
