~t~UTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />711NUARY 12, 1994 <br />The Director disagreed, stating that it was indicated <br />that additional parking would be needed to provide for <br />overall use of the entire facility. <br />LaValle agreed that the City would not let a business <br />operate with inadequate parking. <br />Hanson suggested that the City might allow this for a <br />seasonal business. <br />Scalze pointed out that the City does do this, pointinq <br />out that there is parking on the street in Yorkton <br />Industrial Park. <br />Morelan suggested that the parking issue might not have <br />been discussed at the City Council level, but it was by <br />the Little Canada Recreation Association. Morelan <br />indicated that the Park Consultant agreed that there <br />was a lack of parking, but preferred to minimize the <br />amount of blacktop in the park in the hopes that the <br />industrial property to the north would develop and a <br />shared parking arrangement could be worked out. <br />LaValle commented on the lack of parking at parks in <br />other cities as well as at County beaches. <br />The Director pointed out that in planning for the <br />parking initially, the City did not anticipate the <br />greater use of the park, such as basketball courts, <br />tennis courts, soccer field, tot lot. The Director <br />pointed out that there is a lot of multi-use of the <br />park. <br />Scalze suggested that allowing on-street parking on <br />DeSoto would be an option pointing out that the City <br />paid for the increased width of the road. <br />The Director pointed out that the heaviest use of <br />parking is on the west side of the park. <br />Scalze bel <br />park users <br />that other <br />start time <br />before the <br />space. <br />ieved it was <br />to the east <br />options sha <br />and parking <br />City spends <br />an education process in getting <br />side of the park.
