MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRIIARY 23, 1993
gambling.
The Administrator replied that the total $66,516 under
Revenue Fund 412 for 1993 included proceeds from the sale
of an old truck as well as repayment to the City for
funds expended for the purchase of the new truck. The
Administrator reported that he expected another payment
from the Fire Department for repayment for the new truck
loan very soon. The Administrator reported that the
total repayment that was due from the Fire Department
amounted to $125,000 and the Fire Department still had a
balance of $70,350 due. The City has been informed that
full repayment is expected to be made by the end of 1994.
Scalze asked if the intention was to order a new truck
when the City is short money toward the purchase.
The Administrator replied that this is a decision that
the City Council will have to make.
Scalze felt that the City needed to come up with another
income stream as a back-up to charitable gambling
dollars.
Morelan agreed that while charitable gambling dollars are
"iffy", other revenue sources were as well to a degree.
The Administrator pointed out that the 1993 General Fund
Transfer of $189,421 was in hand, however, the $15,000
budgeted for 1994 was just an estimate at this point.
Scalze felt that the revenues should be in hand before
the City makes any purchases.
The Administrator stated that he was confident of the
revenues listed in the budget document pointinq out the
City's track record of budgeting revenues on the
conservative side. However, if the City is relying on
the $125,000 repayed in full as a source of funding, the
concern is a good one.
Scalze commented that the repayment from the Fire
Department is a major source of funding identified for
the purchase of a new fire truck at this point. Scalze
pointed out that the City has never proceeded with a
purchase relying on charitable gambling dollars to fund
that purchase without first having the funds in hand.
3
