MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA~ MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 13, 1994 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 13th day of April, 1994 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little <br />Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Raymond Hanson chaired and called the meeting to <br />order at 6:07 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Raymond Hanson <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Sheriff's Dept. Comm. Jerry Bergeron <br />Sheriff's Dept. Lt. Mike Shandley <br />Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />FIRST QUARTER Commander Bergeron presented the Council with first <br />CRIME quarter crime statistics for Little Canada as well as <br />STATISTICS the other contracting cities. Bergeron pointed out that <br />the calls listed in this report are not all calls for <br />service, but all calls investigated by the General <br />Investigation Unit. <br />SMART VAN Lt. Shanley reported that the Sheriff's Department has <br />had the smart van in operation for two days on Jackson <br />Street and for one day on Keller Parkway near Lakeshore <br />Drive. Shanley reported that the first day the van was <br />operating on Jackson Street, the visual radar display was <br />turned on. A total of 337 cars drove by northbound <br />between the hours of 9 A.M, and 1 P.M. Of those <br />vehicles, the minimum speed was 20 mph, the maximum 41 <br />mph, and the average was 26.2 mph. Shanley reported that <br />traffic engineers will look at the speed of 85% of <br />vehicles in setting speed limits. In this case, 85% of <br />the vehicles were traveling at 30.5 mph. <br />The second day the smart van was on Jackson Street, the <br />visual radar display was turned off.
