MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 27, 1994
Closed Bond Fund for Infrastructure work. There is
currently over $300,000 in that fund. There is also just
over $100,000 in the Fire Equipment Replacement Fund.
The Administrator also recommended that any interfund
loan include interest so as not to penalize one Fund to
the benefit of another. The Administrator reported that
he has reviewed the specs for the new fire truck and had
some questions he would like to review with Tom Ducharme.
Hanson reported that he has sat in on the meetings of the
truck committee and found them to be a learning
experience. Hanson felt that the committee has been very
thorough in its design of the specs.
Scalze asked the cost to go out for bids.
The Administrator reported that the specs were put
together on the truck committee's own time. Bidding will
be by invitation since there are a limited number of
bidders in the area, and they are easily identified.
Therefore, costs are minimal.
Pedersen asked how many bidders there were.
The Fire Chief reported that the Department is hoping to
receive three bids.
Scalze asked why the department did not submit bid
requests to manufacturers further away.
The Fire Chief felt that the market was competitive in
the area, and there was also the issue of service with
purchasing a truck from a manufacturer in California, for
example.
Morelan pointed out that if bids are over estimate, the
Council has the option of rejecting them.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-4-110 - AUTHORIZING THE LITTLE CANADA
FIRE DEPARTMENT TO OBTAIN BTDS ON THE PURCHASE OF A NEW
FIRE TRUCK SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF SPECIFICATIONS BY TAE
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
25
