MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 25, 1994
the existing Quam accessory building.
The Planner felt that the existing building was not a
problem, and that this building could be added on to as
long as the addition were jogged to meet setback
requirements. The Planner noted that the non-
conformity would not be expanded, and that the existing
building would be grandfathered in since it met Code
requirements at the time it was constructed.
There was no one else from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Morelan, seconded by LaValle, the public
hearing was closed.
Morelan pointed out that Quam has indicated that he
needs the additional accessory space to store his
vehicles and lawn equipment. Morelan also pointed out
that in locating the building addition, Quam is trying
to save trees.
Quam pointed out that he did submit a survey as part of
his Conditional Use Permit application.
The City Attorney noted that the location of the
existing garage is not certified on that survey.
Morelan pointed out that if the existing garage does
not meet setback requirements, and Quam wished to line
the addition up with the existing setback, he would
have to apply for a setback variance.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-5-124 - APPROVING THE CONDITIONAL USE
PERMIT REQUESTED BY MR. GARY QUAM TO CONSTRUCT
ADDITIONAL ACCESSORY BUILDING AREA IN EXCESS OF 1,000
SQUARE FEET ON HIS PROPERTY AT 2934 LABORE ROAD SUBJECT
TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER AS CONTAINED
IN HIS REPORT DATED MAY 9, 1994 AND SUBJECT TO
SUBMISSION OF A REGISTERED PROPERTY SURVEY SHOWING THE
SETBACK OF THE EXISTING GARAGE WITH THE REQUIREMENT
THAT THE ADDITION MEET CITY SETBACK REQUIREMENTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
13
