MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 7, 1994
RESOLUTION NO. 94-6-140 - APPROVING A CLOSED SESSION
FOLLOWING THIS EVENING~S REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING TO
DISCUSS THE MOVER'S WARE HOUSE LITIGATION AS REQUESTED
BY THE CITY ATTORNEY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
1994 STREET The City Engineer submitted to the Council plans and
IMPROVEMENTS specifications for the 1994 Street Improvement Projects
and requested approval. Once approved, an
advertisement for bids will be prepared and a bid date
set. The Engineer pointed out the issue of trails and
sidewalks as part of the 1994 Street Improvements, and
asked if the Council wished to discuss this issue now
or at the June 22nd meeting when the neighbors will be
present.
LaValle suggested that the discussion be postponed
until June 22nd when the public is present to provide
input.
The City Engineer pointed out that depending on the
public input received on June 22nd, plans and specs may
have to be modified. The Engineer reported that he
would like to have the Council review bids at its July
13th meeting in the hope that the projects could
commence shortly after that date and be completed
before school starts. This timing could work even
though plans and specs may be modified after public
input is received on June 22nd.
Morelan asked what the plans and specs included with
regard to the trail and sidewalk improvement.
The City Engineer replied that plans and specs include
an 8-foot bituminous trail along Jackson Street. This
trail will have a 6-foot separation from the street.
Also included is a 5-foot sidewalk adjacent to the curb
along Old County Road C and Lakeshore. This sidewalk
could be set back from the street if desired, and the
Engineer indicated that he would give the pros and cons
of this situation at the meeting on June 22nd.
However, placing the sidewalk adjacent to the curbing
provides for the least amount of disturbance. There is
adequate right-of-way, however, to move the sidewalk
3
