MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 7, 1994 back from the roadway. Scalze asked which side of the roadway the sidewalk was proposed to be located on. The Engineer replied that the sidewalk is proposed along the south side of Old County Road C and the easterly side of Lakeshore in order to avoid having to remove some large oak trees in the area. There would have to be crosswalks installed on Lakeshore to get pedestrians from Bluwood and Australian over to the sidewalk. The Engineer reported that the plans and specs include the sidewalk and trail improvements as he described. Again, depending on the input obtained on June 22nd, these plans and specs can be modified before they are released to bidders. Pedersen suggested that if sidewalks become a community issue, the Council may want to study the matter in more detail. The City Engineer reported that the sidewalk and trail are included as bid alternates, therefore, bids oan be modified by addendum or the sidewalk and trail portion eliminated if need be. The Engineer pointed out, however, that depending on what happens on June 22nd completion of plans and specs could be affected since street grades may need to be modified. The Engineer requested that his office be authorized to call for bids on the 1994 Street Improvement Projects at this time so that the advertising process can begin. There will still be time to work out the details of the sidewalk and trail improvement. Scalze asked how the Park & Recreation Commission felt on the sidewalk/trail issue. The City Administrator was not sure as minutes have not yet been reviewed. He pointed out that the Council should have the minutes of the Commission's June meeting shortly.
