MINUTES
City Council
June 7, 1994
that the Administrator should not spend alot of time
pursuing other options, but he should try to get Little
Canada out of the traffic car.
Morelan asked how it would affect Little Canada if a couple
other cities such as Shoreview and Vadnais Heights dropped
Ramsey County for police services. The Administrator stated
that it would be devastatinq. He indicated that should that
happen, possibly a north suburban police department aould be
formed. LaValle stated that if that happened, Ramsey
County's Investigative Unit would still have to handle
felonies.
The Administrator stated that when he investigated
contracting with another city for police services in the
past, Roseville's cost came in high. Now, the City Manager
of Roseville stated that he has a different method of
pricing.
Morelan asked the City Administrator to obtain last year's
per capita costs for police services from surrounding
suburbs other than the contract jurisdictions for the
Council to review. He felt that this information would help
rationalize staying with Ramsey County.
ANIMAL The Administrator indicated that Animal Control Management
CONTROL has been doing a better job in Little Canada lately.
However, the other contracting jurisdictions are considering
dropping ACM because they are not as pleased with the
service. He felt if this happened, Little Canada would be
forced to change also since ACM will lose the other cities.
The other jurisdictions are looking at contracting with ASCI
which may cost $1,000 to $2,000 more a year. However, this
company may provide a higher level of service.
ADJOURN There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 7:30 p.m.
Respe tfully s,ixbmitted,
- ~~~,
~ / ~ G~ !vG't-~~Gr~ti~'~, ~~'~G'~'d--^'r
Kr/i s ~VanSchoonhoven
-8-
