MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 13, 1994
does not incur any expenses.
LaValle pointed out that the Council informed the
residents on both Centerville Road and DeSoto Street
that the park would not be used in this manner.
Pedersen pointed out the investment in Pioneer Park and
felt that it should be used for an occasional
charitable event. Pedersen pointed out that the park
is not lit and this would be strictly a day-time event.
Morelan felt the park should be used as long as
liability concerns are addressed.
Hanson suggested there may be concern on the part of
the Sheriff's Department with the request. LaValle felt action on the
matter should be tabled until the applicant is present
to answer the Council's questions.
Morelan felt that although a final decision could not
be made this evening, the applicant should be given
some indication of how the Council feels about this
matter since time is of the essence.
Pedersen felt that if the applicant cannot answer the
concerns raised by the Council, then the answer would
be no. Pedersen felt the Council should establish
under what terms and conditions it would this use of
the park.
LaValle again pointed out that the property owners in
the area were told that the park would not be used in
this manner.
Morelan did not believe the property owners would be
upset with this type of park usage, and would
understand the situation and support it.
LaValle disagreed.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
19
