MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 28, 1994 RESOLUTION NO. 94-9-338 - CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26~ 1994, AT 7:30 P.M. TO CONSIDER AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO BOUNDARY LINE FENCES The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. TEMPORARY The City Planner presented the Council with an OFF-5ITE ordinance amendment relating to temporary off-site SIGNS signs. This matter came up as a code enforcement issue. The current ordinance does not specifically prohibit temporary off-premise signs. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94-9-339 - CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1994, AT 7:30 P.M. TO CONSIDER AMENDING TI-IE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TEMPORARY OFF-SITE SIGNS The foreqoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. GENERAL The City Planner presented the Council a report BUSINESS regarding General Business District uses. In DISTRICT reviewing these uses, the Planner stated that it is USES - his opinion that the uses in the B-3 District are not RICE STR. inappropriate and provide for a typical range of MORATORIUM commercial and retail uses . The problem that occurs is the fact that uses in the B-2 District carry over into the B-3 District, and this becomes a problem along Rice Street in particular. The Planner stated that he would recommend defining some B- 2 Districts more specifically. The Planner also recommended the discontinuing of the carry over of B-2 uses into the B- 3 District. Morelan asked if another business district would be created and further designed so that the City can better control how Rice Street would develop.
