MINUTES <br />C1TY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 23, 1994 <br />, <br />was to involve propert~ownere in the process, however, <br />the City has nothing to~;bagin the process with. <br />Pedersen suggested tha~'the Community Pride Committee <br />could sit down with Rice Street property owners and do <br />some brainstorming. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that if the City <br />decides to put out a Request for Proposals, the first <br />step would be to hold some neighborhood meetings to <br />determine what the City and property owners would like <br />to see happen along Rice'Street <br />Irwin Winter, Rice Street resident, reported that he <br />wants to stay in his home and does not wish to sell his <br />property. Winter reported that the developer has <br />contacted him twice with only preliminary information. <br />No offers have been made for his property. Winter <br />pointed out that his property is at the end of the <br />project, and suggested that his land, as well as his <br />sister-in-law's, be eliminated from the project. <br />Hanson pointed out that there are a lot of individual <br />landowners along Rice Street, and at some point they <br />will have to be brouqht together to discuss the matter. <br />Mrs. Winter reported that they have lived in their home <br />for 43 years, do not want to leave, and like living <br />along Rice Street. Mrs. Winter pointed out that her <br />sister-in-law who lives next door has lived in her home <br />for 68 years and does not want to sell. <br />Morelan pointed out that from the onset the Council <br />made it clear that they would not be eager to condemn <br />any property, and encouraged the developer to meet with <br />the property owners and work out a solution. <br />Mrs. Winter reported that they informed the developer <br />that they are not interested in selling their property. <br />A resident of Lakeside Apartments asked to see a map of <br />the area involved in the redevelopment project. The <br />resident was concerned that her view would be disturbed <br />by the project. <br />Hanson reported that the City saw an initial rendering <br />of the project, but the exact boundaries were not <br />defined. This would be one of the things defined in <br />13 <br />
