MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
DECENIBER 21, 1994
Scalze felt a 45 foot radius was preferable, pointing
out that this is 25% less than the City's standard.
Scalze also asked on whose property the cul-de-sac
would be placed. Scalze pointed out that the City
would be looking at high acquisition costs especially
if the City has to compensate a property owner for a
lot that becomes unbuildable due to the easement.
The Administrator stated that the cul-de-sac will be
more expensive since easement acquisition costs will
drive up the cost of that option. The Administrator
reported that using a 30 foot cul-de-sac, the cost of
the cul-de-sac option and street connection option are
the same without addressing the easement issue. The
Administrator suggested that price estimates can be put
together for the various options using assumptions on
the right-of-way numbers.
Scalze felt it was in the City's best interest to do
the street connection, but stated that the Council
needs to see the costs for both options.
Kajalski stated that Mr. Tima would like a decision
from the Council one way or the other on his lot split
concept.
Pedersen asked if Mr. Tima could wait 30 days for a
decision until the Council can review cost estimates
for the street and cul-de-sac options.
Kajalski replied that that was acceptable.
Pedersen suggested that the cost estimates be presented
to the Council at their January 25th meeting.
Mrs. 5calze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-12-424 - DIRECTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO OBTAIN COSTS REGARDING RIGHT-OF-WAY
ACQUISITION, INCLUDING THE OPTION OF CONDEMNATION~ FOR
A 45-FOOT RADIUS CUL-DE-SAC AT TIiE END OF AUSTRALIAN
AVENUE, WITH EASEMENT FOR THE CUL-DE-SAC TO BE TAKEN
EQUALLY FROM ALL FOUR OF THE PROPERTIES AT TIiE END OF
THE STREET, AS WELL AS COSTS FOR IMPROVEMENT OF A 45-
FOOT CUL-DE-SAC AT THE END OF BLUWOOD AVENUE
19
