MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 11, 1995 agency. Fahey stated that should the pawn shop take in an item and not report it to the Sheriff's Department for 30 days, under the 2 month redemption period, this would only give the Sheriff's Department 30 days to investigate. Fahey wanted to make sure the Sheriff's Department has 6o days in which to investigate. Charles Wedemeyer, owner of Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry, stated that daily reports are made to the Sheriff's Department. Fahey pointed out that the Sheriff's Department is recommending a 60-day holding period, rather than a 60- day redemption period. The City Attorney recommended that the time period be changed from 30 days to 6o days. Pedersen also suggested that the ordinance refer to a 60 day redemption period, rather than 2 month redemption period. Mr. LaValle introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption: ORDINANCE N0. 398 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 818.220. AND 818.280. OF TI~E MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA RELATING TO BOTH THE HOLDING PERIOD AND REDEMPTION PERIOD FOR PAWNED GOODS AS AMENDED BY THE COUNCIL The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Scalze. Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Fahey, LaValle, Pedersen. Nays (0). Ordinance declared adopted. PAWN SHOP The City Administrator reported that the Investigator LICENSE at the Sheriff's Department initially reported that he FEE spends approximately 20 hours per month reviewing transactions at Lincoln Pawn & Jewelry. Based on that initial estimate, the Sheriff~s Department was asked for actual figures, and reported that 14 hours per month are spent, with more time if stolen goods are discovered.
