MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 25, 1995
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
REZONING, Fahey opened the public hearing to consider the
PUD & FINAL application of Masterpiece Homes for Rezoning, Planned
PLAT - Unit Development, and Final Plat for Cobblestone
COBBLESTONE Village. Fahey noted that both the Planning Commission
VILLAGE and City Planner have recommended approval.
Gordie Howe, Masterpiece Homes, presented a diagram of
the street lights he is planning for the development,
reporting that there would be seven street lights in
the project. Howe also proposed a monument sign on
each side of the street as you enter the project.
The City Planner replied that the Code allows
identification signs for a development. That type of
signage is limited to 24 square feet in size and 8 feet
in height. There is no restriction on the number of
signs, however.
Fahey suggested that the entrance signage be subject to
review and approval of the City Planner.
Howe asked the Council if he could be issued building
permits for two of the buildings prior to recording of
the final plat. Howe estimated that it takes 60 days
to get a final plat recorded, and he would like to get
a couple of models under construction.
The City Administrator suggested that if Mr. Howe
enters into a development agreement with the City to
ensure that the project is completed, he saw no problem
with issuing two building permits.
There was no one from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Scalze, seconded by Morelan, the public
hearing was closed.
Morelan asked the advantages and disadvantages to the
City in having private streets.
Fahey pointed out that the City is not responsible for
plowing or maintenance of private streets.
