MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 25, 1995
sanctioning fee would cover liability costs.
Scalze felt that this was the type of use the City was
looking for. Scalze asked if liability concerns would
be different than when a soccer team, for example, uses
Pioneer Park.
The City Administrator pointed out that the City has
insurance for use of the park by others. Boog~s
request results in someone else being temporarily in
control of the City's facilities. There may be some
exposure to the City, however, that exposure may not be
great. The Administrator felt that staff could work
out an arrangement to minimize any liability and allow
the tournament to go forward.
Pedersen felt that a tournament usage policy should be
adopted to address these issues in the future.
The Administrator reported that the Park & Recreation
Director is doing some research on this matter and a
recommendation will be presented to the Council at a
later date.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 95-1-34 - APPROVING THE REQUEST OF JERRY
BOOG FOR HIS LITTLE CANADA FAST-PITCH TEAM TO CONDUCT A
FUND-RAISING TOURNAMENT IN PIONEER PARK
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Fahey, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Fahey
suggested that following that workshop both the Senator
and Representative be available to answer any questions
with the general public might have.
It was the consensus of the Council to hold a workshop
as requested on Wednesday, February 23rd, at 6:30 P.M.
at City Hall.
30
