MINiTPES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 22, 1995
maintenance issue of the road with the Administrator.
Anderson pointed out MN DOT's past actions in
resurfacing the Viking Drive loop and providing access
to the area via County Road B-2. Anderson asked if the
Council felt that the property owners had a basis for
claiming State participation in trie project.
Fahey stated that the City had no problem with City
staff requesting that the State participate in the cost
of the improvement since they participated in the
original road improvement.
Anderson pointed out that the State will maintain
jurisdiction over the loop area. Anderson reported
that Mr. Ericson has indicated that a portion of the
road is on his property and off the easement area.
Anderson asked that the City consider extending the
road improvement to the Ericson's driveway.
Morelan asked if the easement extended to the Ericson's
driveway, and if not, would the Ericson's be willing to
dedicate the necessary easement.
Anderson replied that Mr. Ericson has indicated that
the easement is there.
Scalze asked about the 30 foot easement running east
and west, and whether those property owners were
willing to dedicate this easement. Scalze also asked
why the road should not be widened beyond the 18 feet
proposed if there is to be a cul-de-sac at the end.
The City Administrator reported that the 18 foot width
works given the existing uses in the area including
trees, driveway impact, fences, and the powerline.
Fahey pointed out that all these issues can be
addressed in time for a change-order to the 1995
improvements. The concept being proposed at this time
is a 30 foot easement with an 1S foot wide street mat,
and a 12 foot wide street mat for the looped area. The
concept could be approved subject to resolution of
easement issues and verification of issues discussed.
Fahey asked the reaction of the neighborhood to the
one-way option. Fahey felt that a two-way would
require a wider street mat.
10
