MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 22, 1995
the need to balance the neighbors interest with those
of pedestrian safety. Fahey stated that he supported
two 11-foot driving lanes, and paved shoulders,
reducing those shoulders for a total pavement width of
30 feet or less in some areas to avoid tree impact.
Fahey pointed out that the area is a beautiful one, and
he hoped the County would show some flexibility.
Scalze was concerned that property owners would be out
lobbyinq the County in the field to get narrower
shoulders adjacent to their property.
Fahey felt the narrower shoulders would be appropriate
on the north end of the lake where there could be
significant tree impact as well as adjacent to the two
cottonwood trees which the County indicated may have to
be removed. However, posting the area as no
parking could create problems for the property owners
on the lake.
Scalze reported that this issue came up on Edgerton
Street. The City posted both sides of Edgerton as no
parking because of the path. However, property owners
are free to request parking permits to allow parking on
the street when they are expecting a large number of
people to their homes.
Scalze reported that Chris Drake informed her that he
16
