MINUTES OF TIiE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />FEBRUARY 22, 1995 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 22nd day of February, 1995 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired and called the meeting to <br />order at 6:30 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />The purpose of this evening's workshop is to meet with <br />Representative Sherry Broecker and Senator Linda <br />Runbeck to discuss issues of mutual interest and <br />concern. <br />Scalze reported that she has read where the City of <br />Columbia Heights has been exempted from LGA/HACA <br />penalties for Tax Increment Financing. Scalze asked <br />how this was accomplished. Scalze suggested that, if <br />feasible, the City pursue this with regard to the Rice <br />Street redevelopment project. Scalze explained that <br />the Council would like to use TIF funds to help <br />redevelop a blighted area within the City. The project <br />would also include a senior housing component. <br />Fahey pointed out that Little Canada has not used much <br />TIF in the past and has not abused the program. <br />Broecker reported that she would look into how Columbia <br />Heights was granted the exemption, and would report her <br />findings to the City Administrator. <br />Fahey asked Broecker to check into the change in bus <br />service that will occur in Little Canada, and see if <br />1 <br />
