MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 26~ 1995
The City Attorney was instructed to review the
ordinance in more detail and report back to the
Council.
CODE The Code Enforcement Officer reported that he has
ENFORCEMENT dealt with 86 code enforcement issues since beginning
his internship in early March. That compares with 70
issues during all of 1994. The Code Officer reported
that he has a 70% completion rate on these issues, and
expects that percentage to rise. The Code Officer
attributed his success rate to the fact that code
enforcement is being worked on full-time.
Scalze commented that the code enforcement activity
reports are very informative. Morelan stated that the
Code Officer is doing a good job.
The Code Officer reported that he and a sub-committee
of the Community Pride Committee were reviewing the
nominations for the Community Pride Award. In touring
the City and looking at these yards, it is apparent
that the vast majority of property owners take pride in
their property.
Scalze indicated that the Code Officer has done a good
job for the Community Pride Committee as well.
The City Administrator reported that the Code Officer
does an excellent job relating with people. Code
enforcement is a tough job, and the Code Officer has
given property owners appropriate consideration in his
dealings with them.
LaValle asked the status of the Buck Blacktop property.
The City Administrator explained that there is a large
pile of asphalt and concrete on the site. This pile
has caused problems for some of the neighboring
properties. City staff has has meetings with Buck
Blacktop informing them the pile had to be removed.
Buck Blacktop proposed to crush the pile and use the
materials out on job sites. The Administrator felt
that some progress is being made on the site concerns,
and Buck Blacktop has indicated a willingness to work
with the City.
LaValle stated that he would like to see more site
clean-up this year. LaValle also felt emphasis is
needed on the site along South Owasso as soon as
possible.
11
