MINUTE5
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 26, 1995
The Code Officer reported that he and the City Planner
have met with Buck Blacktop and asked if site
improvements could be made along South Owasso this
fall. As a result of that meeting, Buck Blacktop
submitted a letter outlining his proposed timelines for
cleaning up the property. Another meeting will be held
with Buck to discuss concerns and comments that the
City Council might have.
The City Administrator reported that there are other
properties in the City with similar problems. The City
must be fair and consistent in the treatment of these
various property owners. However, there is a definite
need for results.
Scalze pointed out that this area has been a problem
for a long time, and some stronger actions are needed
to get the area cleaned up. However, she was willing
to work with the property owners to get the concerns
addressed.
The Code Officer suggested that he discuss the
possibility of clean up along South Owasso occurring
this fall with Buck Blacktop. This situation can be
monitored, and if nothing is happening by early fall,
additional correspondence and discussions will occur.
RICE STREET The City Administrator reminded the general public that
STUDY there will be a workshop on the Rice Street Study on
Monday, July 31st, at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall. A town
meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 7:00
P.M., City Hall.
STRIPING OF The City Administrator reviewed the July 20th memo
LAKESHORE/ from the City Engineer recommending the striping of
OLD C/ Lakeshore/Old County Road C/Jackson street with two
JACKSON 11-foot driving lanes and two 5-foot shoulders. Double
yellow lines are also proposed to help the Sheriff's
Department enforce traffic speeds around the curves.
Residents of the area had requested we evaluate the
striping of the roadway in order to slow traffic. The
City Administrator recommended the striping as proposed
by the City Engineer suggesting that the area then be
evaluated over the winter. No parking could be posted
in the spring if it is determined to be warranted.
Morelan asked why the traffic lanes are proposed at 11
feet.
12
