Secretary Ms. Kris VanSchoonhoven
RICE STREET Rusty Fifield of Ehlers & Associates began the meeting by
STUDY stating that tonight's workshop will focus on implementation
strategies for the Rice Street/Little Canada Road
redevelopment project. He stated that this discussion will
give the consultants additional guidance on what is
acceptable and what is not in the area. However, before
implementation will be discussed, Michael Schroeder of
Hoisington Koegler Group will talk about development
concepts and will give those present some reaction to the
discussion that was held at the last workshop. Finally,
there will be some discussion on what needs to happen in the
next five weeks in order to meet the September 8, 1995
deadline.
Schroeder recapped the three concept plans that had been
talked about at the previous workshop for those present.
The plans were as follows:
A. Gateway concept where Little
the main street with Market
the other main thoroughfare.
First Bank Drive give access
parking area. Buildings are
streets.
Canada Road becomes
?lace Drive becoming
Middle Street and
to a large central
pulled out toward the
B. The pattern of streets was maintained north of
Little Canada Road, but Middle Street was extended
south of Little Canada Road to create a connection
with more of a main street feel. Rice Street is
still suburban-oriented. This concept lost the
idea of a gateway at Little Canada Road and Rice
Street.
-1-
