MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 23, 1995 <br />Mr. Pedersen introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 95-8-197 - VACATING THE FOLLOWING <br />DESCRIBED ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY: <br />THE EAST 7.00 FEET OF JACKSON STREET LYING NORTH OF THE <br />WESTERLY EXTENSION OF THE SOUTH LINE OF LOT 1, BLOCK 4, <br />J. F. EISEMENGER'S 4TH ADDITION, ACCORDING TO THE <br />RECORDED PLAT THEREOF AND SOUTHERLY OF THE <br />CIRCUMFERENCE OF A CIRCLE HAVING A RADIUS OF 35.00 <br />FEET. THE CENTER OF THE CIRCLE IS A POINT 15.00 FEET <br />WEST AND 5.00 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF <br />SAID LOT 1 <br />The foregoing resolution <br />Ayes (4) Pedersen, Fahey, <br />Nays (0). <br />Abstentions (1) Morelan. <br />was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />LaValle, Scalze. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />AMENDING Fahey opened the public hearing to consider amending <br />ZONING Section 903.110.C. of the Zoning Code relating to <br />CODE temporary signs. Fahey noted that the amendment would <br />RELATING allow City businesses to have two temporary sign <br />TO TEMPORARY permits in a calendar year each of which could be up <br />SIGNS to 30 days in duration. The current ordinance allows <br />two temporary sign permits in a calendar year each <br />having a 10 day duration. The amendment also makes <br />provisions for grand opening signage as well as helium <br />balloons. <br />There was no one from the qeneral public present <br />wishing to comment on this matter. <br />Upon motion by Morelan, seconded by Scalze, the public <br />hearing was closed. <br />Morelan moved adoption of the Zoning Code Amendment <br />relating to temporary signs as recommended. Scalze <br />seconded the motion. <br />LaValle suggested that rather than limiting temporary <br />signage to two 30-day permits, the Council might want <br />to consider four 15-day permits. LaValle suggested <br />that it might be more helpful to business owners to <br />allow temporary signage more frequently than twice each <br />year, although total number of days in a calendar year <br />could still be limited. <br />Scalze pointed out that with the amendments proposed, <br />12 <br />
