MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 11, 1995
The Administrator agreed that there was a need to meet
with The Venetian and get their plans more solidified
and determine what the potential is.
Vitale asked if the design guidelines being developed
will have to be met by The Marketplace Shopping Center.
Fahey replied that that was correct.
Pedersen pointed out that the design guidelines will
ensure that buildings compliment one another, not
necessarily make them all look the same.
It was pointed out that the prospective purchaser of
The Marketplace has indicated his desire to work with
the City. If that purchase does not go through, the
City would have to wait until a new buyer comes along
in order to apply the design guidelines to the center.
The City Administrator reported that the City has put
that incentive into the program, providing that
$200,000 would be spent renovating The Marketplace so
that it meets the City~s design guidelines.
Fahey suggested that staff be authorized to move
forward, that the City Administrator meet with The
Venetian Inn and report back to the Council on the
results of that meeting, and that a Council workshop
then be set to discuss the RFP process.
Mr. Guerin submitted pictures to the Council of
development occurring in the City of Woodbury which he
felt is what the Little Canada should be looking for in
the Rice Street/Little Canada Road area. Guerin asked
if the City was looking at both his parcels of land at
the northeast intersection, or just one.
Morelan replied that the City was looking at both and
asked the lease arrangements that Guerin has with his
tenants.
Guerin replied that the shoe shop has a five-year
lease, and the barbershop has no lease.
JACKSON/ Mr. Frank Frison appeared before the Council expressing
OLD C/ concern with the Jackson/Old County Road C/Lakeshore
r,AKESHORE project. Frison reported that residents feel that
ROAD assessment of the project is premature given that the
IMPROVEMENT project is not completed, the road needs some
additional patching and the storm sewer does not drain
15
