MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 11~ 1995
higher salaries. Those new salary figures will be
built into the Budget once they are known.
Morelan asked if the City had any data on potential
building permit revenues for the Rice Street area.
The City Administrator replied that there may be some
additional building permit revenue from the Market
Place renovation. However, this has not been included
in the Budget.
Council next reviewed the Capital Improvement Budget.
The Administrator pointed out that in 1998 and 1999
there are no new tax dollars budgeted for capital
improvements due to some increases in the debt levy.
However, when the debt levy drops off dramatically in
the year 2000, there would be $256,400 available.
Scalze commented that when the debt levy drops off, it
was her desire to lower property taxes.
The Administrator pointed out that the Canadian Days
Committee has indicated that they would contribute
$20,000 toward the construction of a park shelter in
Spooner Park. The Park & Recreation Commission has had
discussion about constructing a shelter in Pioneer
Park. Staff has suggested that the new shelter be
constructed in Spooner with the existing Spooner
shelter being moved to Pioneer. The Administrator
reported that he is waiting for input from Canadian
Days on what the shelter would look like. Initial
discussions have been that the garage in Spooner Park
will be used by LCRA for storage.
Scalze suggested that once the Canadian Days Committee
has made their recommendation, the issue should be
discussed by the Parks & Recreation Commission.
Fahey suggested that it might be possible to get
additional funding from Canadian Days.
Council's consensus was in favor of the 1996 Capital
Improvement Budget.
There being no further business, the Council continued
the budget workshop meeting to a future date to be
determined at the regular Council meeting this evening.
11
