MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEP'iBER 22, 1995 <br />There was no one from the general public present <br />wishing to comment on this matter. <br />Upon motion by Fahey, seconded by Morelan, the public <br />hearing was closed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-11-271 - INCREASING THE CITY~S WINE <br />LICENSE FEE AS FOLLOWS: <br />1996 - $100 INCREASE; <br />1997 - $0 INCREASE~ <br />1998 - $100 INCREASE; <br />1999 - $0 INCREASE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5j LaValle, Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen, Morelan. <br />Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LICENSE FEE Fahey reported that staff is recommending that the <br />FOR AMUSEMENT City~s license fee for amusement devices be increased <br />DEVICES to $100 for the first three machines plus $50 per <br />machine over three. Fahey reviewed survey results of <br />surrounding cities which show that Little Canada~s flat <br />fee of $100 for four or more machines is low. <br />Tom Duray, Hoggsbreath, reported that he opposed the <br />increase. Duray indicated that he has 14 devices at <br />Hoggsbreath and the fee schedule proposed would <br />increase his fee from $100 to $650. Duray suggested <br />that a more reasonable fee schedule should be <br />developed. <br />Fahey pointed out that amusement device licensing is a <br />revenue generator for cities. <br />Pedersen asked Duray who pays his amusement device <br />license fee. <br />Duray replied that he did. <br />Pedersen pointed out the results of a survey City staff <br />did which shows that in most cases fees are split on a <br />50/50 basis between the vendor and business. If the <br />account is a good one, the vendor will pay 100% of the <br />license fee. <br />Duray pointed out that the Saxon has 31 devices. Under <br />12 <br />
