MINiJ'PES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />NOVEI4BER 30, 1995 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 30th day of November, 1995 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired and called the meeting to <br />order at 7:30 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Cable TV Ms. Jane Boog <br />Admin. Asst. Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />TRUTH IN Mayor Fahey opened the City's Truth In Taxation <br />TAXATION Hearing. Fahey reported that in September the City <br />HEARING certified a preliminary tax levy increase of 3.5%. <br />This is the amount used by the County in generating <br />Truth In Taxation Notices to individual property owners <br />within the City. Since September, additional <br />information has been obtained resulting in adjustments <br />to the proposed 1996 Budget. As a result, the increase <br />is now at 2.830 <br />There was only one member of the general public present <br />at the hearing. Mayor Fahey asked if that residents <br />had any questions or comments regarding the proposed <br />1996 Budget. <br />Mr. Gene Blackford, 299 Savage Lane, asked why his <br />Truth In Taxation Notice shows there will be a decrease <br />in taxes for properties located within the 624 School <br />District and an increase for properties located in the <br />623 School District. <br />Fahey replied that the Twin Lake Blvd. area is located <br />within the 624 School District. The remainder of the <br />City is within District 623. The City's rate remains <br />consistent among all properties within the City. <br />However, the actions of the respective School District <br />that a property lies within results in the difference <br />Mr. Blackford is questioning.
