MINUTES OF TAE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />DECEP'IBER 18, 1995 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop <br />meeting of the Council of the City of Little Canada, <br />Minnesota was held on the 18th day of December, 1995 in <br />the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael Fahey chaired and called the meeting to <br />order at 7:00 P.M. and the following members of the <br />Council were present at roll call: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Mr. Michael Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />(arrived 7:20 P.M.) <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. <br />Parks & Rec <br />Bldg. official <br />Code Enforce. <br />Cable TV <br />Admin. Asst. <br />Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Mr. Jim Morelan <br />Mr. Greg Schmit <br />Mr. John Pechman <br />Mrs. Jane Boog <br />Mrs. Kathy Glanzer <br />1996 BUDGET The purpose of this evening's workshop is to discuss <br />the 1996 Budget. Mayor Fahey reviewed the City <br />Administrator's memo dated December 15th which outlines <br />three additional options for the Council's <br />consideration. The first is to use a portion of the <br />General Fund surplus to buy down the levy. Secondly, <br />the City's collection rate assumption could be revised <br />from 97% to 97.5%. Finally, revenues from the receipt <br />of dividends and reimbursements from the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust could be increased. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that the Council <br />also has the issue of the Park & Recreation Assistant <br />position to discuss as well. <br />5calze asked about the old fire station project. <br />Scalze pointed out the estimate of almost $300,000 to <br />renovate the old fire station. She asked how much it <br />would cost to replace the building. <br />Fahey asked why the Council is only just now hearing <br />the almost $300,000 cost of renovation after extensive <br />work has been done looking at the potential for <br />renovation.
